400 Pageviews!

Tue Nov 24, 2009, 8:01 AM
6 Months of Deviance, and 400 pageviews - not bad for an illustrator with a broken laptop and no free time!

I'm officially pro now, working in a small town design shop doing things like t-shirts and decals, promo items and banners, you know, entry level stuff.

I found this job right out of school, basically I got lucky. I heard about this company, and a change of hands, and just made the right call at the right time. My boss never saw my portfolio until after I was hired.

Anyway, I'm hoping to soon get my computer fixed. I'll be putting CS2 on it and hopefully getting one of the cheaper Wacom tablets (suggestions?) so I can get back to work being an expressive artist, rather than a commercial artist, if only in my spare time.

The job is going well, I just can't believe it took me this long to discover the joys of Pandora online radio. I've got some fun and interesting projects going on in the office - I'm just about to wrap up work on a logo for a small local insurance agency, which is arguably my most significant project to date - I'm hoping to get it posted here if the owner of the agency doesn't mind, of course I suppose it depends on copyright law, and what the agency plans on doing in terms of that... In a small town like the one I'm in, I don't think anyone really thinks about or cares about copyrighting their logo. I don't even know if I, as the designer, should be copyrighting that kind of thing for myself, since I'm making it for a customer (can anyone clarify this for me? I'm hazy on the laws and ethics of the whole idea).

In any case, I know there are a small handful of you out there who might actually take the time to read this whole thing (and maybe even care a little!) and I just wanted to let you know that it's really, sincerely appreciated - especially given the tremendous talent you all exhibit so consistently, and so much more frequently than myself.

Well I'd better get back to work, I've been on the clock this whole time and I've wasted about an hour :) Thanks again!

By the way, The Jerk is a kickass movie.

Great to hear you think so! That classic is way under appreciated.
:iconcrookedvultures:
I know! Such a good movie. Speaking of Martin, surely you've seen Planes, Trains, and Automobiles?
:icongrossmandesign:
eh - parts of it - I'm a little embarrassed I've never really seen all of it.

I don't understand how anybody would deny The Doors, they're filled to the brim with awesome.
And because of your comment, so are you. :D
